TDA BESIGYE & AMAMA CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENCY - ONE MISSION MANY STRATEGIES.

Free Uganda is watching the heated debates in TDA (The Democratic Alliance) with keen interest. Outside of TDA, there are growing voices of patriotic Ugandans calling on the TDA opposition fraternity not to waste time, and not to make grievous mistakes that will come back to haunt the Ugandan nation. One such voice is of the senior liberation struggle activist RABBA NAGA, and we reproduce his latest call to TDA to do the right thing. Ugandans are watching!

Here is RABBA NAGA's STATEMENT (published on Facebook this morning , 21 Sept 2015)

RABBA NAGA - I ADDRESS THIS TO TDA LEADERS DIRECTLY - THE DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE

Stop wasting time in none issues. Politics is a time bound game. The more time you lose the more ground you lose. You are dragging a dead horse. Why? Because none of you has a clue as to what the real issues are. You are hoodwinked by the wishful thinking that Mbabazi is better than Besigye or vice versa! How is this?

THE TWO MEN REPRESENT TWO DIFFERENT VISIONS OF HOW TO END THE MUSEVENI RULE.

This very question is what exercised the minds of FDC delegates conference. In there, Muntu represented what Amama and his friends in TDA represent. Going to a sham election organised by the rigger Museveni and collect invitation cards to his swearing in ceremony.

Besigye on the other hand talked about reforms before elections even if it meant confronting the regime for these reforms. I hear people say that he has tried and failed. And that it cost lives in walk to work etc! But Museveni tells you it started in 1973! Indeed Mutukula was attacked in 1972! Power was captured in 1986! How many years and how many had died?

IT CEASES TO BE A MATTER OF INDIVDUAL PREFERANCE. THE BESIGYE VSION WON THE DAY WITH 718 to 281 of Muntu. Surely that was an emphatic statement by FDC on where they want to go. I was surprised to read Muntu still carrying on with his defeated vision. He should have been polite, shelve it for another time but not to betray his party and take the same position to TDA. If he felt so strongly about his vision, what principled leaders do is to resign. If you don’t, then you respect what your party chose.

Now on TDA. What is the real issue?

TDA is exactly like what the issue was in FDC delegates conference. Can you defeat Museveni in his sham election and, THIS IS A BIG AND, take power? Besigye tells you he has done both, won but failed to take power. The Mbabazi lobby says for him he can where Besigye failed.

Another issue is who is eating in whose support? Mbabazi was supposed to add to the opposition his "NRM MULTITUDES"! Many say they haven’t seen much other than those Mafabi people in Bugisu etc! And indeed Besigye seems to say he too hasn’t seen them. Instead he sees Mbabazi using FDC, DP etc members even to gather his signatures.

By the way, even some of those kanyamas guarding him are opposition diehards! E.g. that gentleman councilor Lukoda is a DP councilor in Kampala. This begs the question, is Mbabazi targeting the 26% which Besigye, Semwogere etc were always allotted by Museveni or he has a new formula?

He says he has a new formula, then why not make it COMPLEMENTARY TO THAT OF BESIGYE INSTEAD OF SWALLOWING IT?

The issue is, suppose The Mbabazi strategy doesn’t work. Again for those supporting Mbabazi, they are right to question, suppose the Besigye strategy doesn’t work? 

THEREFORE, WHY does Mbabazi not be a flag bearer as an NRM INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE and bring half of what Museveni gets in NRM and Besigye also BEARS HIS OPPOSITION FLAG and gets his allotted 26 or 30% and we force a re-Run?
I read president Mao’s article, to be honest, it didn’t say much as to the way forward.

SO LET TDA HAVE ONE FLAG BEARER - DR BESIGYE. LET TDA AMMEND IT’S WHATEVER TO BE ALLIED TO A SECOND FLAG BEARER WHO IS AN NRM INDEPENDENT WITH A PROVISION THAT THE ONE WHO GETS MORE VOTES THAN THE OTHER WILL BE THE JOINT CANDIDATE AT THE RE-RUN. And we go to work but also we AVOID DIVIDING THE OPPOSITION FORCES.

Some of us are not really bothered about your dreaming because removing Museveni is going to be bitter and possibly bloody. But still we support all those trying all other means. One mission many strategies.
